Huzzah! Montana district judge, James Reynolds of Helena, ruled today that providers don’t have to wait till the end of June to start accepting patients again! Starting immediately, I-182 will go into effect and Greener Pastures will begin signing up patients and enrolling them into our program. If you are a past patient of ours, or a new patient looking for a provider, please read through the following Q&A to learn more about what it takes to become a Greener Pastures patient.
Q. What do I do to continue, or begin, my legal access to Medicinal Marijuana?
A. There are three categories patients will fall into:
1. Past patients who switched their status to become their own provider after August 31st and before their card was expired or terminated, will need to come by the store and have Greener Pastures help set up a Change of Provider Form for the state.
2. Patients who let their cards terminate but their expiration date has not yet arrived can visit the original doctor that initially wrote them their prescription and have them re-write another prescription to which Greener Pastures can then send in to the state to have them re-activated within our system.
3. For patients who have never had a card, or past patients whose card has expired, will need to go through the appointment process with a doctor and claim Greener Pastures as their provider. If you need help finding a doctor and want to learn more about becoming a patient for Greener Pastures, please give our office a call and we would be happy to help you get started.
Q. What are the biggest changes that I-182 will bring?
A. Some of the most important changes stemming from Initiative 182 will be the ability for providers to have more than three patients that they can legally grow for, allowing for those suffering with PTSD to legally gain access to medical marijuana, and unannounced annual inspections from the health department of provider grow areas. These changes will help create a safer medical marijuana program in Montana.
